Frequently asked questions

Wig Maintenance and Styling

Can I use heat tools on my synthetic wig?

It depends on what type of synthetic hair you have purchased. Some synthetic pieces may be heat-friendly (which we will notify you if it is), but we suggest using low heat up to a maximum of 350 degrees. If you would like some additional styling done, we suggest setting your wig with rollers or you may bring it into us for service.

Can I use regular hair products on my synthetic wig/hairpiece?

We recommend using wig shampoo and wig spray on your synthetic piece because regular hair products may be too harsh on the synthetic fibers. Regular hairspray may cause build-up and may be difficult to remove when washing.

Do I need special products for my wig?

Besides maintenance products like shampoo and conditioner, we highly recommend other products to take care of your wig. For synthetic pieces, especially longer ones, we recommend our conditioning mist to help with detangling and preserving the ends of your wig. For human hair, we recommend a deep conditioning treatment such as keratin to replenish and hydrate the hair. If you plan on heat styling your human hair wig, we also recommend a using a heat protectant every time.

Are human hair wigs hard to maintain?

In terms of maintenance, human hair is about the same maintenance as a synthetic wig. However, human hair can require more styling than synthetic hair depending on what type of style you are looking to achieve. We also sell professional canvas block heads that make styling your human hair easier than styling on yourself. For more information on how to style a human hair wig, please refer to the Human Hair Maintenance page under Guides.

Can I use glue on my lace front wig?

Glue can be applied to secure a lace front wig. All of the wigs we carry do not require the use of glue to be worn properly. We recommend wearing a wig grop for extra security in place of glue, tape, or clips.

Do you style or cut wigs not purchased from your store?

It depends, it must be evaluated first by the stylist to ensure we are confidently able to achieve the style or cut you would like. You also must fill out a release form before any services are performed.

How often should I wash my piece?

For synthetic hair, we recommend washing after 20 - 25 wears. For human hair, we recommend washing after 15-20 wears.

Can you color or dye synthetic hair?

No, you cannot dye synthetic hair. You can only dye human hair.

How should I store my wig?

We recommend storing your wig on a wire stand to allow your wig to air out or dry after washing. You may also store it on a foam head. DO NOT place your wig when it is wet on a foam head. This may cause your wig to stretch.
